Tracy Morgan Honors Nurse Who Cared for Him After Crash 6 Years Ago

Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan honors the nurse from New Jersey that cared for him after his crash six years ago.

Back in 2014, Morgan was critically hurt in a six-car pileup on the New Jersey Turnpike—when a Walmart truck slammed into his group’s limo.

Yesterday, Morgan presented Nurse Gina Domingo with the “Tracy Morgan Award for Excellence in Rehabilitation Nursing.”

Domingo works in the brain trauma unit at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute.

According to ABC7, Morgan says she got him through his difficult recovery by encouraging him daily.

“She wouldn’t even look at me, she said everything’s gonna be alright,” Morgan said. “She would take me outside and read and let me be outside in the air. I was so angry, I was so scared.”

The medical director of the rehab center said that by sharing his story, Morgan is shining a spotlight on the role of rehabilitation nursing and that the comedic star is an inspiration to patients.
