On Monday, former President Barack Obama and his family spent part of their MLK holiday making meals to be delivered to homeless shelters.
Barack, Michelle, and daughters Malia and Sasha all were seen volunteering at the DC Central Kitchen—to help mark its 25th anniversary.
The 44th president and daughter Malia could be seen filling burritos while wearing aprons with the DC Central Kitchen logo on them.
DC Central Kitchen (only minutes away from the White House) prepares 5,000 meals a day for distribution to local shelters and low-income and at-risk residents.
“I just want to thank everybody here for the great work they do,” Obama said to workers at DC Central Kitchen in Washington.
According to the San Diego Union Tribune, several of Obama’s cabinet officers also took part in various holiday-related events and former Vice President Joe Biden appeared at the National Action Network’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast, and later joined the Catholic Volunteer Network to serve hot lunches to guests.
