Michael Jordan Opens Medical Clinic for Underserved Families in Charlotte

Yesterday, the Charlotte Hornets owner unveiled the the grand opening of the $7 million Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic.
The center is one of two medical clinics he and his family funded to provide care to underprivileged members of the community.
“This is a very emotional thing for me to be able to give back to a community that has supported me over the years,” the NBA legend said while tears streamed down his cheeks.
The clinic, located in a lower-income section of the city, will provide vital access to primary and preventive care to individuals in the community, including those who are uninsured.
The 6,800-square-foot space on Freedom Drive has 12 exam rooms and an X-ray room. Services include primary and preventative care, physical therapy, behavioral health and social support. It is staffed with two doctors and one physician’s assistant.
The six-time champion also vowed to do more, saying “this is just the start of a battle of being able to touch as many people as we can.”
