Gold Hearts & Grammys

This past weekend, the Hip-Hop Billionaires hosted the Roc Nation Pre-Grammys brunch in Los Angeles. This is the 2nd year the affair has been held, where top entertainers gather one day before music’s biggest awards show. With an expected Hip-Hop headcount, Meek Mill, DJ Khaled, Kevin Hart and Sean “Diddy” Combs were just a few of the stars that aligned and shined bright.

While the moguls are greatly known for their hit music, high fashion and hefty net worth, their Philanthropy has served powerfully as well.

Jay-Z is no stranger to giving. In fact, his name may be associated with just as many Gifts as hits. The Shawn Carter Foundation dates back to 2003. The public charity was founded by Hov and his mother Gloria Carter. Since the Foundation’s inception, over $4M have supported initiatives to empower youth and communities in need through the Foundation’s programs.

Beyoncé Knowles Carter has been involved with numerous philanthropic initiatives, including “Chime for Change”, a charity co-founded with actress Salma Hayek. But her most notable may be the campaign cleverly named #BeyGOOD, which helps the homeless, sick children, and the unemployed. The effort has supported at least six European charities to help homeless and sick children.

Most recently, their generosity was displayed while touring. According to Complex: “Through The BeyGOOD Initiative and The Shawn Carter Foundation, they announced a new scholarship program that awarded one exceptional Senior High School Student, with financial needs, in 11 US markets of the OTRII Tour.” Over $1.1 Million in 100K scholarships were granted.

With hearts of gold and over 40 combined Grammys to match, it’s no wonder why their dynasty continues to flourish. The couple was nominated for three Grammys this year and took home Best Urban Contemporary Album for their joint project “Everything Is Love”.
